Live Tracking and Social Feeds – Elliot Handler Ride

For the Elliot Handler Memorial Ride on Sunday 10/16/2011, the Hot Wheels Cycling Team website will have a live tracking and social feeds on the home page.

If you have any friends or loved ones that would like to follow our progress, the home page will display a Live Tracking feed (map) on Sunday. Just tell them to point their browser to http://hotwheelscyclingteam.com/. The feed will be live on Sunday morning.

We will also have a twitter feed. If you want to have your Cyclemeter or other app post your progress during the ride and show up during the ride, just make sure you include the hash tag #hwct in your tweet. The twitter feed is already live on the site and you can try it out at any time.

Lastly, On the home page, the site will have a Facebook Live Streaming feed. If you, your friends or family want to make comments during the event, just have them go the home page on Sunday and the Facebook plugin will be there.

If you are a participant in the ride want to post on that Live Streaming feed during the ride, I have set up an optimized mobile web page for you do so.

Elliot Handler Memorial Ride 2011Mark your calendars now: October 16th, 2011

During the Mattel Party on the Pier, the Hot Wheels Cycling Team will have a charity ride to benefit the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA.  To sponsor a rider, click here.

The goal of the Hot Wheels Cycling Team is to raise $5,000.

There will a single, 90k (57 miles) route. The 20k ride has been canceled due to low registration.  The route will be an out and back. Starting point will be at the Santa Monica parking area. The turn around point will be at Leo Carrillo Beach. Event t-shirt and Sag support will be provided.

The 90k will be capped at 100 riders.

Members as well as non-members are welcome to participate.  To register for the ride, you will need to be sponsored.  You can sponsor yourself, or have a friend or family member sponsor you.  To sign up or sponsor a rider, please visit the Elliot Handler Memorial Ride Donor Information page.  Make sure to fill in the the name of rider to be sponsored under Donation Opportunities.  If registering for the ride, be sure to indicate which ride you will be completing.

Ride Information:
·         Date: Sunday, October 16, 2011

·         Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

·         Eligibility: Hot Wheels Cycling Team members and non-members are welcome.

o        Route: a metric century ride (57 miles) with a maximum of 100 riders will begin and end at the lower parking lot adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier:

Post-Ride Event Program Participation:
·         After the ride, return bikes to vehicles (a security guard will be assigned to our parking area)

·         Volunteers will escort the team from the parking lot to Pacific Park to participate in the event program on stage

·         The event program starts promptly at 12:30 p.m.

·         Water will be provided at a designated location inside the event

Hot Wheels Cycling Team Recognition
·         Name listed on thousands of event invitations

·         Logo featured on the event web site (www.partyonthepier.ucla.edu <http://www.partyonthepier.ucla.edu/> )

·         Logo to be featured on the event stage banner

·         Banner displayed at the entrance of ride or a game, identifying our team as a sponsor

Fundraising Information:
·         Team goal is to raise at least $5,000

·         Individual goals

o        $1,000 or more: guest package* of 2 adult VIP tickets and 2 general admission tickets

o        $500 – $999:  guest package* of 4 general admission tickets

o        Up to $500:  Meal voucher for the rider

o        Deadline: gifts received through Sunday, October 9, 2011 will count toward your individual fundraising total

·         Silent Auction

o        Our team will be also donating fabulous items for the event’s silent auction, including two Hot Wheels kids bikes, an American Girl kids bike and doll, a team kit (adult size), and a customized, one-of-a-kind Hot Wheels adult Pinarello full carbon rode bike.

o        Bidding will take place at the event and select items will be featured on CharityBuzz.com <http://www.charitybuzz.com/auctions/2774>  from October 5-19.

*General admission tickets include meal vouchers and unlimited access to rides.  VIP tickets include goody bags and access to the VIP tent.  Children with general admission tickets are allowed in the VIP tent when accompanied by adult VIP ticket holders. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., allowing plenty of time for fundraisers who receive event tickets to enjoy the festivities with family members or friends after the ride.  Please note that there is a parking fee for guests who will be using event tickets.
